About

Tucked away on the Oosterburgereiland in Amsterdam's Czaar Peterbuurt neighbourhood, Roest occupies a converted ship warehouse whose raw industrial bones have been shaped into a cool, inviting space. Chef Jef van den Hout leads the kitchen at a level that earned the restaurant a Gault&Millau score of 12.5/20 — a mark that signals serious culinary intent behind the laid-back atmosphere.

The food centres on high-end comfort cooking: familiar, satisfying flavours executed with care and craft, the kind that keeps you enthusiastically eating course after course. The wine list is intelligently curated, balancing well-known names with lesser-known and independent producers, and remains very reasonably priced throughout. Attentive, genuinely warm service rounds out the experience.

Beyond the walls, a city beach with deck chairs and sand draws crowds when the weather is fine, while a large adjacent warehouse regularly hosts festivals, markets and events. Food trucks add an extra layer of variety to the site. Whether you come for a leisurely lunch, a late dinner or a night that stretches until 3 AM on a Friday, Roest adapts to the occasion — outdoor seating, dine-in and reservations all available.

Book your table at Roest and experience Amsterdam's most atmospheric industrial dining destination for yourself.

"Tranen!
