"Je kunt de Flying Dutchmen wel uit Nuenen halen, maar nooit de—huh, dit klopt niet helemaal. Net als de combinatie rotirol en whiskycocktail, zou je denken. Soenil Bahadoer gaat het tegendeel bewijzen. Een bourbonbara* klinkt toch fenomenaal? Drie cocktails kosten €49,50 en dan zorgt de sterrenchef voor drie bijpassende happen. *disclaimer: een bourbonbara hebben we zojuist zelf verzonnen en Cityguys is niet aansprakelijk als het iets anders briljants blijkt te zijn. "Uiteraard mag deze klassieke cocktailbar van Timo Janse (of moeten we zeggen 'de Sea Serpent') en Tess Posthumus niet ontbreken op deze avontuurlijike reisroute. In The Flying Dutchmen Cocktails serveren ze alle klassiekers én het liefst nog een twist hierop. Zo ook tijdens de driedaagse Planet Ardbeg Tour. "Een twintigjarige Timo Jansen (o.a. eigenaar Flying Dutchmen Cocktails) kocht als leergierige bartender van een shotjesbar een boek vol recepten voor, jawel, shots. In dat boek stonden ook een aantal cocktailrecepten, waaronder een negroni van Gary Regan. "Ik kon bijna geen enkele cocktail uit dat boek maken, maar de negroni... die ingrediënten hadden we!" Een paar dagen later bestelt er eindelijk iemand een cocktail. Timo weet een negroni te verkopen. Dat was ook het moment dat hij zelf de negroni voor het eerst proefde. "Ik vond het lekker, maar de gast háátte het. Hij heeft het drankje teruggestuurd en volgens mij heb ik hem zelfs nog zelf moeten betalen." Inmiddels is Timo wel wat bekender geworden met de negroni - en de gast ook. Tijdens Negroni Week 2021 blijft Flying Dutchmen Cocktails dichtbij de klassieke uitvoering van de befaamde cocktail. In hun Tonka Toy Negroni is de Campari geïnfuseerd met de inheemse tonkaboon die het drankje tonen van vanille en kers meegeeft.
