"Chef-kok Bart Leussink en maitre Janiek van den Broeck hebben met The Church een (verborgen) Lutherse kerk omgetoverd tot een waanzinnige restaurantervaring. Wellicht vinden mensen graffiti in een kerkomgeving godslastering, maar hier past het. Net als de "zwevende" hotelkamers in de nok van de kerk. Zodoende kun je dus, als je écht niet meer weg wilt (of kunt), ook nog blijven slapen. Dan het eten, want slapen is voor dagjesmensen. Wij dineren de 9-gangen Chef Experience aan de chef's table: een open keuken midden in de kerk. Zo zit je tussen de kerkbanken ineens hemels te dineren. De setting is duidelijk minder stijf dan bij andere high-end dining spots waar we de afgelopen tijd hebben mogen plaatsnemen. Begrijp ons niet verkeerd: het blijft wel serieus lekker. De amuse van hamachi met hollandaise en een sorbet van geoxideerde paddenstoel zet direct de toon. De gepekelde en gerookte ribeye met sherry wordt na het serveren prachtig gecompleteerd door de chefs. De snoekbaars met lardo di colonnata is fenomenaal. Over de matchende wijnen zijn we al even sprakeloos. Volgens de overlevering zit Roger nog steeds verliefd aan de bar. In 2024 maakte The Church haar debuut in de Michelingids.
